Thaís Muniz is an artist and designer who lives between Brazil and Europe, searching and sharing aspects of Afro-Atlantic culture from the plurality of turbans and headwraps. Central to Thaís' work is the place of the turban in art, politics and aesthetics. Muniz started the project in 2012 and in recent years, she has been carrying out research that connects history, meaning and re-signification of the head wraps to the Afro-Atlantic diaspora.
In 2018, I developed the new visual identity for the project based on Adinkra symbols and layers of collage that support all the web, mobile, offline communication and merchandising, with the purpose of attributing values of modern Afro-Brazilian culture and to value the cultural, social and historical characteristics of the project.
